Daily Deviation

Given 2010-06-17
Everything in its Right Place, `melocopter's searingly beautiful oil painting is an allegorical study of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (and also happens to be our friend $Moonbeam13's all time favorite deviation). ( Suggested by Moonbeam13 and Featured by SRaffa )

Even though the painting deals with a very serious subject matter I cannot help but be overwhelmed by the bright contrasting colors and it fills me with a profound feeling of happiness. I decided to feature it among other joy-invoking works in my journal: On Top of a Flaming Eagle

First of all I must commend you on bringing light to OCD, a disorder that deserves to be better understood and the devastating effects it has on those that suffer from it. This picture captures that feeling as the child's very ability to play is stripped from her due in the constant push for perfect order.

lovely, just lovely the way you described this obsessive-compulsive disorder; even the trees position in the background come to suggest the idea of "absolute order". And beautiful, brilliant colors :)

I like how she's even on a bucket to keep out of the sand! Adds another level to it, but shouldn't the toys be out of the sand as well?
Reply
:iconmelocopter:
melocopter Featured By Owner Jun 18, 2010
I kept the toys in the sand to try to convey that OCD can take people to the point to where things they like aren't fun anymore. A debatable concept but that was the thinking.

Thanks for the comment!
